Joel Kaiser & the Devil's Own play country music. Not alt country, not insurgent country. Just country music.
They've dispelled with the nashville-hat nonsense and cut it down to the lonesome drinking song sound that country music does better than anything else. There's a bit o' 'billy grit to this but that just adds to the ambience. Nice.
